Dolomite Grinding Mill

Raymond mill is the ideal equipment for processing dolomite powder. It is suitable for non-flammable and non-explosive materials with Mohs hardness ≤7 and moisture ≤6%, particularly well-suited for medium-hardness materials like dolomite (Mohs 3.5-4). Using the centrifugal rolling + air classification principle, it can grind dolomite from a feed size of ≤30mm down to 80-400 mesh (up to 600 mesh for some applications), producing uniform fineness, concentrated particle size distribution, and no over-grinding.

Product Introduction

Dolomite Raymond Mill | High Efficiency & Energy Saving, Adjustable Fineness-The Ideal Equipment for Dolomite Powder Processing

Dolomite is a common carbonate mineral with the chemical formula CaMg(CO₃)₂. After grinding, dolomite powder is widely used in glass, ceramics, building materials (putty/mortar), fertilizers (soil conditioner), rubber, plastics, paints, metallurgy (refractories/flux), water treatment, and many other industries. With the increasing emphasis on acidic soil improvement in modern agriculture and the continuous development of the building materials and glass industries, the demand for high-quality dolomite powder is steadily growing.

Compared with traditional ball mills, the Raymond mill offers significant advantages: compact structure, small footprint, low power consumption, high one-pass powder yield, uniform product fineness, and dust-free operation. Our Raymond mill features high-manganese alloy rollers/ringswear-resistant shovelshigh-efficiency fans, and pulse baghouse filters to ensure long-term stable operation while meeting strict environmental standards at home and abroad.

Dolomite powder of different fineness is widely used in the following industries:

Application IndustryTypical FinenessValue Proposition
Glass Industry100-200 meshProvides CaO and MgO, improves water resistance, reduces devitrification
Ceramics Industry200-325 meshAs fluxing agent, lowers firing temperature, increases green strength
Building Materials (Putty/Mortar)200-325 meshImproves workability and bond strength, crack resistance
Fertilizer/Soil Conditioner80-200 meshNeutralizes acidic soil, provides calcium and magnesium, promotes crop growth
Rubber/Plastics Industry400-800 meshAs functional filler, improves rigidity and heat resistance
Paints & Coatings600-1250 meshEnhances opacity, improves leveling and weather resistance
Metallurgy (Refractories/Flux)80-200 meshUsed for magnesia-calcia bricks, magnesite-chrome bricks, or as steelmaking flux
Water Treatment100-200 meshAs neutralizing agent to adjust pH, remove heavy metals

Working Principle

The working principle of the Dolomite Raymond Mill is based on centrifugal rolling and air classification. The whole process consists of the following steps:

1. Feeding
Dolomite raw material is crushed by a jaw crusher to ≤30mm, then lifted by a bucket elevator into a raw material silo, and uniformly fed into the Raymond mill grinding chamber by an electromagnetic vibrating feeder.

2. Grinding
When the main unit is working, the grinding rollers tightly press against the grinding ring under centrifugal force. The material is scooped up by a shovel blade and thrown between the rollers and the ring, where it is crushed and ground. Dolomite is pulverized into fine powder between the rollers and the ring.

3. Classification
The ground powder rises with the airflow from the fan to the classifier. The classifier controls the final fineness by adjusting the speed of the classifying rotor. Powder that meets the fineness requirement passes through the classifier to the cyclone collector or dust collector; coarse powder is rejected and falls back into the grinding chamber for regrinding, forming a closed circuit.

4. Collection & Dust Removal
After preliminary collection by the cyclone collector, the dust-laden gas enters a pulse baghouse filter for further purification, achieving final dust emission below 20mg/Nm³. The collected finished powder is discharged through a discharge valve and conveyed by a screw conveyor to the finished product silo or packaging machine.

5. System Features

  • The entire system operates under negative pressure, preventing dust leakage.

  • An air volume control valve between the fan and the main unit allows adjustment based on dolomite characteristics and fineness requirements.

  • Grinding rollers and rings are made of high-wear-resistant alloy materials, suitable for dolomite‘s medium abrasiveness.
