Barite Grinding Mill Plant (Raymond Mill) is a complete system integrating crushing, grinding, classification, collection, and packaging with the Raymond mill as the core equipment. Optimized for barite‘s medium hardness (Mohs 3-3.5), high specific gravity, and dense structure, it can process raw ore up to 30mm, produce finished powder with fineness adjustable from 80-400 mesh (up to 600 mesh), and achieve capacities from 0.5 to 15 tons per hour. The plant features modular design, small footprint, low energy consumption, fully sealed negative pressure operation, and a pulse baghouse filter with dust emission <20mg/Nm³, meeting domestic and international environmental standards.
Barite is an important non-metallic mineral raw material. Ground barite powder, with its high specific gravity (density 4.2-4.5), chemical inertness, low oil absorption, and non-magnetic properties, is widely used as a weighting agent in oil & gas drilling, for the production of barium chemicals (barium carbonate, barium hydroxide, barium chloride, barium sulfate), coatings, paints, inks, rubber, plastics, pharmaceuticals, radiation shielding materials, glass, ceramics, and more. With the increase in global oil exploration and deep-well drilling, the demand for high-quality barite powder continues to grow.

Barite powder of different fineness is widely used in the following industries:
| Application Industry | Typical Fineness | Value Proposition |
|---|---|---|
| Oil & Gas Drilling (Weighting Agent) | 200-325 mesh (44-74μm) | Density ≥4.2g/cm³, increases mud weight, controls well pressure, prevents blowouts |
| Barium Chemicals Raw Material | 200-325 mesh | For production of barium carbonate, barium sulfate, barium chloride, barium hydroxide, etc. |
| Coatings & Paints | 400 mesh+ | As extender pigment, improves gloss, weather resistance, corrosion resistance, lowers oil absorption |
| Plastics & Rubber | 400-800 mesh | As high-density filler, increases product density, improves processing performance |
| Pharmaceuticals | 325-400 mesh | For barium sulfate suspension as digestive tract contrast agent, requires high purity |
| Radiation Shielding Materials | 200-325 mesh | For shielding X-rays and γ-rays, used in radiation-shielding concrete, bricks, and boards |
| Glass & Ceramics | 325-400 mesh | Introduces BaO, improves refractive index, enhances gloss and thermal stability |
The complete process flow of the barite Raymond grinding plant is as follows:
Step 1: Crushing & Conveying
Large barite ore (≤300mm) is coarsely crushed to ≤25-30mm by a jaw crusher. For harder barite, a secondary hammer crusher can be added. The crushed material is lifted by a bucket elevator to a raw material silo.
Step 2: Feeding & Grinding
Barite from the silo is uniformly and quantitatively fed into the Raymond mill main unit by an electromagnetic vibrating feeder. The Raymond mill operates on the centrifugal rolling principle: grinding rollers tightly press against the grinding ring under centrifugal force, and material thrown between them by shovel blades is crushed into fine powder. The roller pressure and airflow are optimized for barite‘s density and hardness to ensure grinding efficiency.
Step 3: Classification
The ground powder is carried by fan airflow to the air classifier. The classifier rotor speed is adjusted via a frequency converter to precisely control final fineness (e.g., 200 mesh, 325 mesh). Qualified fine powder passes through the classifier to the collection system; coarse powder is returned to the grinding chamber for regrinding, forming a closed circuit and preventing over-grinding.
Step 4: Collection & Dust Removal
Qualified fine powder enters a pulse baghouse filter and is collected by filter bags. The finished product is discharged via a discharge valve and conveyed by a screw conveyor to the finished product silo. Purified exhaust gas is discharged at compliant levels, ensuring a clean working environment.
Step 5: Packaging
Finished powder is packed into bags (25kg/50kg or big bags) by an automatic packaging machine or can be loaded into bulk tankers. A pneumatic conveying system can also be configured as required.
